Episode 226: The Smirk: We Review "Passions in Death"
Podcast in Death
In this episode, AJ and Tara discuss the book ‘Festive in Death’ by J.D. Robb. We both agree that this is the best of the Christmas themed books. We’re not too excited by the murder investigation, because the victim, Trey Ziegler is a complete ass. It’s hard to get excited about the case when the victim is an ass, but, then again, that’s exactly why, in this book, the now infamous bullpen motto was created: MATTER YOUR RACE, CREED, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, OR POLITICAL AFFILIATION, WE PROTECT AND SERVE, BECAUSE YOU COULD GET DEAD. EVEN IF YOU WERE AN ASSHOLE.
Apart from the case, there’s a lot of Christmas fun in this book, including Roarke and Eve’s best Christmas party yet, Eve going to Tiko to help her buy gifts for her friends, Trina giving Eve a mistletoe tattoo right above her ass, Eve giving Peabody her Pink “Magic Coat,” and a great “drunk Santa” moment.
This book also gives us the infamous “Pre-Nup” discussion between Eve and Roarke.
